Editorial Standards

How we choose what to recommend

  1. Specifications come from the manufacturer. Weight, flight time, camera, range and compatibility come from the maker’s own documentation. We link to it and note the date we checked.
  2. Prices are in Canadian dollars and dated. We check Canadian retailers and show when we last did. The retailer’s price at checkout is the one that counts.
  3. We say who should skip it. Every recommendation includes the buyer it doesn’t suit and its main limitations.
  4. We label how we know. Each guide is marked either Researched comparison (built from documentation and published sources; we haven’t flown it) or Hands-on (we’ve used it, and the guide says how, for how long and in what conditions).
  5. No invented experience. We don’t publish made-up test results, flight logs, ratings, testimonials or reviewers.
  6. Images. Product photos come from the manufacturer or retailer under their permitted use, or are our own. Illustrations are labelled as illustrations.
  7. Canadian rules. Regulatory content links to Transport Canada. It’s general information, not legal or aviation advice. Check the current rules before you fly.

Money and independence

We may earn a commission when you buy through some links on this site. Retailers and manufacturers don’t review or approve our guides before publication, and a commission never decides what we recommend. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
